BE
BRAVE

in the ordinary.

sisters and handmade bows

Hi!  I'm Sarah, the maker behind this business. For as long as I can remember, I've always loved to create things.  My grandmother was an accomplished artist, and I like to think I got that itch from her.  I actually got my first sewing machine from her but had zero interest in it at first (much to her and my mother's chagrin.)  But after my first daughter was born, a good friend (hi, Margie!) finally taught me how to use it, and I've never looked back!

I first started making tote bags for my weekly farmer's market outings.  As we added two more girls to our family, I realized I really loved making headbands and clips for them, hence The Brave Little Bow was born.  At that time I had just had my third daughter, and I was wading through the very familiar waters (for me) of postpartum depression.  Fear and anxiety had become my unwelcome yet regular companions and, in addition to support from my family and friends, I found that making things brought immense joy and relief.  Seven years later, I still find that making things regularly is good for the soul!

A book that I have loved for years has helped me understand why:

"Beauty invites and attracts, and inspires us to greater things...Beauty is just what worry needs."

(Ed Welch)

This little business is a tangible outcome of applying that advice in my life, and over the years I've expanded the shop beyond bows and tote bags to include aprons, dolls, zipper pouches; basically anything that we find adds joy, function, and beauty to everyday life. What I can assure you is that everything here has been tried and enjoyed by myself and my family.

Whether it's an apron for cooking, a tote bag for bringing home market goods, or a bow or rag doll for your little one, I hope you find something here that you love as much as we have!
